Engagement Session- Why Have One?
After you get engaged and the wedding planning begins, many couples look to cut costs where they can. Thinking – why get engagement photos done? We will have plenty of pictures taken at the wedding. Why waste the money.
Well I am here to tell you – don’t skip the engagement photo session!
This will be the last time in your life before you are married to this special person, and you don’t want to miss capturing the love that the two of you have together before all the business of the wedding arrives. These pictures you will cherish for a lifetime, and be able to use for the wedding, preparations, and so much more!
Not for today – but for you, your family and generations to come
The engagement photos are not for you to enjoy right now, today. Although you may love them once you have them done! But they are really for you to share in the future. For you to show family and friends the love that you have together before you were married.
Just think of yourself 20+ years from now showing your children and your grandchildren these pictures? You can show them and anyone else who may not know you today – while you were engaged – just who you and your spouse were 20 years ago. Share the memories and relive the moments all over again. The proposal, the intense love and affection, the adventures you had – you can share these memories, through these pictures, with everyone you love and that is in your life in the future.
Establish a relationship with a photographer
It is important to have a good relationship with your wedding photographer so that you can get the wedding pictures you want. And what better way to do that than by having an engagement photography session with your future wedding photographer! You can get to know how the photographer works, you can share what you like and don’t like, and you can make sure that your wedding pictures turn out the way you want by working with the photographer beforehand.
Many photographers also offer engagement photography sessions as part of their wedding packages, so you can also get a discount with some of them. But most important of all, is to know that you can trust the photographer that is taking the pictures on the most important day of your life! Take this Virginia Beach Engagement Photographer for instance. I called him up to ask a few questions for this blog and he was more than willing to take time out of his day to answer any and every question I could throw at him. He was one of the most personable photographers I have spoken to.
Save-the-dates, thank you notes, wedding websites and more!
There is a practical side to engagement photos too – you can use them as your prepare for your wedding. You can use the pictures on your save-the-date or wedding invitations. Many companies now allow you to upload pictures to your invitations and other announcements. This is a great way to not only announce the wedding, but to show your family how happy and in love you truly are!
Thank you notes can also be personalized with your engagement pictures. There will bridal showers, dress fittings, bachelorette and bachelor parties, rehearsals and rehearsal dinners, so thank you notes may be appropriate. Or you may want a wedding website through WordPress or The Knot. Engagement pictures are great to put online to show the world how much you love each other!
Decorations at the wedding and reception
One of my favorite uses of engagement photos though is to use them as decorations at the wedding. Have them on the tables with candles and flowers so the guests can enjoy them as they are celebrating with you at the reception. Place them on the cake or sign in tables, and even hang them in fun frames at the reception hall! You can do whatever you like in decorating at your wedding! Or if you have a wedding planner, they can take over and make your wedding beautiful with pictures of you and your future spouse! Perfect for celebrating your wedding!
So, don’t skip on the engagement photos! You don’t want to miss out on the opportunity to capture this special time in your lives. Do some research and find the perfect wedding and engagement photographer today!
PS… we will have more to come on how to choose that perfect engagement and wedding photographer on our future blogs!
